I have multiple conditions to deal with
Hypertension
Stage 4 kidney failure
Shortness of breath
Etc etc
All my conditions are be monitored by very Cary staff at Lister
All require from my GP is to follow up on Listers instructions especially medication
I had a heart stress test recently and was told my medication needs to adjusted
I was given isosorbide mononitrate and told they would inform GP to adjust my repeat
My repeat prescription was issued without that med included
I don't have a working pc and am practically house bound
Sent in an email with all info and called next day to be told it was with GP
Next day had email stating must fill in line form before gp can look at my request
I never complain normally but this is not the way to treat very sick patients
I shall have to go back to my consultant and get advice from them
Almost impossible to get an appointment. When you do get an appointment then it lasts just 5 minutes and you are not allowed to mention more than one symptom per appointment! How ignorant is that? Every sane doctor knows that to diagnose a condition you need to look at the pattern of presentations not just one single symptom. Crazy and incompetent in my view. The system needs to change as it can cause uneccessary suffering and deaths through this poor diagnostic process.
My wife's medication was changed by her psychiatrist last week, and an email was sent to Astonia house regarding this. Instead of issuing a new prescription, they canceled it completely, and then when she rang on to try and speak to a doctor the receptionist told her it wasn't important enough for a telephone consultation. After ringing again today to try again, she's now been given a telephone consultation on the 8th of August. Mental health means nothing to this surgery as this happens every time there's a change in her medication.
I am appalled by the recent service I have received from my GP and the receptionist at this practice.
I am transitioning from female to male, and have many ongoing severe mental health conditions. I am on weekly medication and can spiral quickly if this is not prescribed correctly. A couple of weeks ago my official name change was confirmed by the doctors, but then suddenly my medication didn’t arrive at the pharmacy. I was panicking and got very upset so rang the doctors reception to find out where it was. She said “well if you will change your name, that will happen! Your medical notes will have been completely wiped because of your name change”. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed, as if changing my name was something I had done wrong. I felt like she was telling me off for doing it. She has absolutely no idea how hard it is to begin a gender transition, and how changing my name has been incredibly challenging for me. She made me feel so much worse and caused my mental health to spiral dramatically.
I also recently rung my doctor as i was desperate for some extra support with my gender dysphoria whilst I continue on my 30 month waiting list with the gender clinic. The doctor had access to my complete medical records and could clearly read how dangerous my mental health can become when I’m struggling. But instead of offering any referrals or further support, he simply said he would send me a fact sheet about gender dysphoria. I was extremely disappointed as I do not need a fact sheet about a condition that I have lived with for my entire life! I know how it feels and what it is better than any fact sheet. The doctor just seemed so unsympathetic and didnt attempt to understand what was going on with me.
From reception staff to the nurses and GP's you are all excellent
